Woman Convicted of Husband's Fentanyl Murder

An American woman, Kouri Richins, has been convicted of the deliberate, premeditated murder of her husband, Eric Richins. She poisoned him with fentanyl in their home near Park City, Utah. Prosecutors stated that Richins was planning to start a new life with another man but was unwilling to give up her husband's money. She was in debt of $4.5 million and believed she would inherit her husband's fortune of over $4 million after his death. Her phone searches included phrases like 'lethal dose of fentanyl' and 'luxury prisons in America.' Richins had previously been accused of attempting to poison her husband with a fentanyl-laced sandwich, which caused him to develop a rash and lose consciousness. Following her husband's death, she published a children's book about grief to help her children and others cope with the loss of a parent.
