Trump Open to Trilateral Summit with China and Russia

A week ago, Trump expressed his willingness to participate in a trilateral summit with the leaders of China and Russia once the situation has calmed down. At the first annual meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO), China warned about the risk of global recession due to tariffs imposed by the United States during Trump's administration.

In response to this, the Chinese government reaffirmed its opposition to U.S. tariffs and emphasized the importance of addressing trade disputes through dialogue and consultation. The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the need to resolve mutual concerns on the basis of equality and respect.

Trump, for his part, mentioned the possibility of reaching a trade agreement with China and praised his relationship with President Xi Jinping. Since his return to the White House, Trump has maintained a protectionist stance and imposed tariffs on Chinese products, which has led to retaliation from Beijing.

In an interview aboard Air Force One, Trump stated that there is a good relationship with Xi Jinping and that a trade agreement between the two powers remains a possibility. However, he did not provide specific details about the content of such an agreement. Trump also criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, for not advancing a trade agreement between the United States and China.
