As a result of the sudden introduction of customs duties on goods from China and Canada, prices may rise, stated U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
Raimondo noted that these measures took effect under the new tariff policy aimed at protecting American interests. According to her, increases in the prices of a number of goods are to be expected due to the additional duties.
"We will focus on our producers, and these duties will help them cope with competition," Raimondo emphasized.
The customs duties on products from China and Canada have caused concern in the business community and among consumers, as they may lead to price increases for a wide range of commodities and services. Experts warn that this could impact the budgets of many Americans and reduce the purchasing power of the population.
U.S. government officials assert that the new tariff policy helps protect the national economy and aids in creating new jobs in the country. However, critics of this approach express concerns about the potential harm to consumers and rising prices for production.
