US Treasury Secretary Comments on Economic Policies

On Friday, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, named the program for the liquidation of the U.S. Federal Reserve as one of the important tasks. He also emphasized that monetary policy should be oriented towards maximizing economic growth.

"I consider that one of the most important tasks for today is the program for the liquidation of the Federal Reserve," Mnuchin stated at the CNBC Institutional Investor Delivering Alpha conference.

He noted that implementing such a program would signify the halt of additional purchases of assets by the central bank, the completion of financing programs with reduced rates, and a reduction of the FRB's balance by $250 billion. "This is precisely the path to a gradual return to normal policy," Mnuchin added.

He also pointed out that, in his view, maintaining a strong U.S. dollar is an important factor for the stability of the global economy. "For me, it is very important that the dollar remains stable, as it helps to contain inflation and ensure equilibrium," the Secretary explained.
