Cloudflare outage affects millions of websites worldwide

American company Cloudflare resolved an incident caused by an internal security change that led to outages for millions of websites and online services worldwide.

The American cloud services provider stated on its website that the incident was caused by an internal change made to improve security. According to the company, everything is now functioning normally, and it will provide more detailed information in the coming hours. The change caused an unexpected failure that affected part of the company's network for a few minutes. The company ruled out a cyberattack and pointed out that the incident was caused by an internal change in its protection system, known as WAF (Web Application Firewall), a filter that detects and blocks attacks before they reach a website. The company indicated that it was "investigating issues" with the "dashboard" and associated APIs. The adjustment was made to reinforce security against a vulnerability detected this week in React Server Component, a technology used by many websites. Cloudflare resolved the incident that occurred this Friday, which caused failures for several minutes in millions of web pages and internet connection services worldwide, and prevented access to all types of social networks, generative AI engines, and payment platforms.
