Google has made a significant change to how Gmail works by launching the "AI Inbox" feature. This feature uses artificial intelligence technology to transform traditional email lists into smart summaries and offer instant suggestions, such as "reschedule meetings," to help users manage their crowded inboxes more effectively. The company began rolling out the feature experimentally for personal accounts in the US via browsers (excluding Workspace accounts for now). At the same time, Google announced that it is making a set of features that were previously "exclusive and paid" available to all users for free. These features include an email composition tool (Help Me Write), personalized suggested replies, and summaries of long conversation threads. In a statement, Google explained that subscribers to the Google One AI Pro and Ultra plans in the US will receive additional benefits, including advanced language proofreading, summaries in search results, and the ability to intelligently retrieve information from email. The company also noted that users can manually disable AI features, but warned that this may affect other tools such as spell checking.
