Six of the largest banks on Wall Street are on track to achieve annual profits of $157 billion, which would be the second-highest total for the sector ever. Shares of all major banks rose for most of last year and continued this momentum into January. If this figure is realized, it will be the strongest performance since 2021, when the financial system was flooded with liquidity from economic stimulus and deal-making activity. These banks are: JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. Analysts expect the six banks to report profits that are 9% higher than last year, according to estimates compiled in New York.
