After cocoa futures reached a record high in December 2024 due to poor crops in West Africa, they halved last year amid an improvement. On the New York exchange, cocoa prices saw the 'biggest daily drop' since July 2024, as exporters used purchases related to index rebalancing to secure better prices. This erased the gains made earlier in the week linked to the rebalancing of broad commodity indices, which could attract buying for around 37,000 cocoa contracts, according to analyst estimates. Futures fell by about 13% on Friday, hitting their lowest level since November 28.
