Zuckerberg Considers Moving to Miami Amid California Wealth Tax Proposal

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg is negotiating to buy a $200 million home in Miami. His potential move is linked to a proposal for a one-time wealth tax in California, which is being criticized by Republicans.

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg is negotiating to buy a house for up to $200 million in an exclusive area of Miami where Amazon's Jeff Bezos also resides, amid a proposal for a new wealth tax in California, reported The Wall Street Journal. Zuckerberg would move in April to Indian Creek, a private island north of Miami known as the 'Billionaire Bunker'. Republican Senator Ted Cruz wrote on social media: 'Socialism stinks'. The tax, which would be paid once in a lifetime, would affect about 200 people with a combined wealth of $2 trillion. Real estate agents noted that the property price ranges from $150 million to $200 million. The businessman's move comes as California's unions are pushing for a vote to establish a 'emergency tax' of 5% on residents with wealth of $1 billion or more in the state constitution.
