Elon Musk's Lifestyle: Simplicity Despite a Billion-Dollar Fortune

Despite being the world's richest person with a colossal fortune, Elon Musk's lifestyle appears far from the luxury often associated with billionaires. His mother, Maye Musk, revealed some details about her son's daily life, noting that his lifestyle is characterized by a great deal of simplicity. She mentioned that his home contains only the essentials for living. She responded to a social media post that apparently showed Musk's residence in Boca Chica, Texas, where SpaceX's Starship rocket launch site is located. 'There is no food in the refrigerator. The bathroom has only one towel, so I left it for Elon,' she wrote in her Instagram comment. The original post displayed photos of a kitchen and living room with a limited number of items. 'There are no luxurious things in it, it only includes what is necessary for life,' the caption read. In a previous interview, Elon Musk stated that the value of his home is only about $45,000. Meanwhile, Maye Musk spoke about her personal childhood experience, noting that she grew up in the Kalahari Desert and sometimes went weeks without showering. 'I had no problem with that,' she added. This came as Forbes magazine released its latest list of the world's richest people. The list shows that the 54-year-old founder of SpaceX currently has a massive fortune estimated at around $839 billion, an amount almost equal to the combined wealth of the 'poorest' 63 billionaires on the list. Following Musk at the top of the list are other titans of technology and media: Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, and Mark Zuckerberg. The magazine noted that the year ending March 1, 2026, 'was one of the best years ever for creating billionaire fortunes.' The list saw 390 new names added, including prominent figures like Dr. Dre, Beyoncé, Roger Federer, as well as a large number of entrepreneurs in the artificial intelligence field. The richest woman in the world for the second consecutive year is Walmart heir Alice Walton, whose fortune is estimated at approximately $134 billion.
