The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, warned that the global financial system is unprepared for the increasing risks posed by artificial intelligence (AI). This warning comes amid emerging cybersecurity threats raised by the new 'Anthropic' AI model. Georgieva made her remarks a day before the start of the IMF and World Bank's annual spring meetings in Washington. Last week, U.S. regulatory agencies held an emergency meeting with top bank CEOs to discuss the new AI model. She stated, 'We, as a world, do not have the capacity to protect the international financial system from the massive cyber risks.' She added, 'We are very keen to pay more attention to the necessary safeguards to protect financial stability in an AI world,' calling for global cooperation on the matter.
