American Women Seek New Lives in Europe

A recent survey indicates that many American expatriates, particularly women, are relocating to Europe for better healthcare, political stability, and lifestyle opportunities. With a growing number seeking digital nomad visas, the trend is evident as individuals prioritize personal values over the turmoil in the US.

American Women Seek New Lives in Europe

According to the results of a survey conducted by the fund "International", in 2021, about half of American emigrants working abroad were women. Working abroad is becoming increasingly popular, and more and more countries are starting to offer visas for so-called "digital nomads".

The average age of immigrants was 43 years. Many are striving to move to a country that corresponds to their values, starting from universal medical care and ending with the desire to escape political strife in the USA, according to "USA Today".

Sibi Tabibian, founder of an online community for American women over 30 who wish to move to Europe, noted that Europe offers a more stable, peaceful, and tolerant political climate. Among those attracted to the European way of life was Di Sigler. She moved last week to the Netherlands, a country she had never visited before. Sigler shared that she had dreamed of living abroad since her teenage years when she took a trip to Europe with a French school club.

Then she met Tabibian on the "Facebook" page when she was looking for ways to move permanently to Europe, where she eventually qualified for Italian citizenship by ancestry.

Sindi Shikhan, who moved to Portugal in 2022, said that she does not see the possibility of negotiating with another presidency of Trump. Her decision is based on the belief that the USA has a very high level of political strife, starting from 2016. Like Sigler, she also created a group on Facebook and later received Italian citizenship by ancestry.

Women are drawn to Europe due to its safety compared to the USA. In 2024, the USA ranked 131st out of 162 countries in the Global Safety Index, while many European countries were in the top 20. The rates of mortality from gun violence are significantly higher in the USA compared to Europe: 19 times higher than in France and 77 times higher than in Germany, according to data from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.

For Tabibian, similar to Sigler, relocating to Europe was a long-held dream, and after leaving her job in the tech sector in 2015, she was ready to move to Spain, where she studied Spanish after receiving a master's degree.
