A man from Oklahoma has set a world record in brick collection. Claim Raynkaer, an 87-year-old resident of Tulsa, gathered a collection of 8,882 different bricks. Most of them date back to the last century, but among them is a brick from 100 AD. Raynkaer started collecting bricks more than 40 years ago.
Part of his collection was made in the period from 1870 to 1910, and one of the most valuable for him is a brick with photographic errors. He says: "I believe that Oklahoma has a rich history of bricks with the biggest photographic errors."
Living with them, he and his son gather a group of friends to help catalog and register each brick in his brick barn in Tulsa, while Raynkaer was out of town. He noted: "It's unusual, but it feels right. But I don’t know why."
Raynkaer returned home, discovering an official certificate from Guinness World Records about the largest brick collection in the world. In the encyclopedia's commentary, he said: "When I returned home, it was a huge surprise, and I was very glad to receive this confirmation."
