Film critic Alexis Puig shared his weekly pick of movies and series for this weekend: a Netflix premiere and a dark comedy.
"The Chair" A new series, available on HBO Max, which Puig describes as a thriller with a black acid humor, focusing on a man's obsession with a chair that "humiliated" him in a very important situation. In an intense search with several bizarre undertones, the series has several surprising turns involving the protagonist's closest beings.
Synopsis: William Ronald Trosper, a man who, after a humiliating incident at his job at a real estate development company, begins to investigate a supposed large-scale conspiracy involving family, colleagues, and strangers.
"Frankenstein" The new film by acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro relates a new facet of the literary classic Frankenstein, which Puig describes as an emotional drama, instead of a typical horror movie. With stellar performances by Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac, the drama focuses on the father-son relationship between Victor Frankenstein and the creature. As the expert described, the film features incredible real, not digital, costumes and sets with great detail.
Synopsis: A brilliant and obsessive scientist, Victor Frankenstein, in his ambition to defy death, manages to bring to life a humanoid creature assembled from parts of corpses. Despite being a scientific feat, Frankenstein considers the creature to lack intelligence and rejects it.
