Preparations for the holiday season began back in the summer. Last August, the First Lady's office announced the start of planning for Christmas celebrations at the White House, and in October, Melania Trump posted a video on social media of her setting up gold decorations with the caption: 'White House Christmas Meeting.' This season marks the first return of the Trump family to the White House since President Donald Trump's return to office. Despite demolition work on the East Wing, a White House official told 'Hello' magazine that the festive traditions will continue unchanged. The spokesperson for the First Lady's office also told the magazine: 'The First Lady and her team are looking forward to the holiday season and to continuing the wonderful traditions of the White House.' Two days before the lighting of the decorations, specifically on December 2nd, the White House will reopen to the public through tours that include a new route to view the Christmas decorations. The First Lady's office had previously announced: 'In honor of the holiday season, Christmas decorations will be displayed throughout the White House.' The decorations in each room will be designed with meticulous care under the direct supervision of Melania Trump, allowing visitors to enjoy this beloved annual tradition that transforms the White House into a festive reflection of the holiday season's spirit.
