Disney's animated film "Zootopia 2" topped the North American box office during the five-day Thanksgiving holiday, earning $156 million, according to estimates from Experiential Relations. "Zootopia 2," which follows the adventures of two police officers and features a cast of talking animals that challenge stereotypes, is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 film that won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The sequel also features the voices of Jennifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Idris Elba. David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research confirmed, "It's a fantastic launch for a sequel animated film," adding that Disney and Pixar always outperform the first films with their sequels. Gross also stated that, "on average, films earn 71% more in their first week in theaters than the first part," and noted the film's excellent performance in China. Worldwide, the film has grossed $556 million, a figure that The Hollywood Reporter described as "the biggest global opening for an animated film of all time." "Wicked: For Good," the sequel to Universal's musical franchise about the most famous witches in the magical land of Oz, dropped to second place with $93 million in earnings. The film is based on a Broadway musical that was in turn adapted from Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel. "Now You See Me 2" came in third with $10 million. This film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Woody Harrelson, who target dangerous criminals. "Predator: Badlands," the latest horror and sci-fi film from Twentieth Century Fox, fell to fourth place with $6.6 million in earnings.
