Squirrel Accused of Power Outage in USA

Authorities in Medina County, USA, have accused a squirrel of causing a power outage that resulted in the loss of phone and internet services for many government offices in the county of Ohio. According to Medina County officials, the service outage on February 20th, which disrupted phone and internet services in government facilities, including the prosecutor's office, was initially believed to be caused by contractors accidentally cutting underground fiber optic lines. However, Medina County Director Matt Springer revealed at last week's commissioner's meeting that the real cause was a squirrel that built a nest inside the fiber optic network and chewed through several lines. Springer commented on the matter, saying, "It's hard to believe things like this." He also stated, as reported by UPI, that measures are being taken with internet service providers and local fiber optic networks to prevent similar incidents in the future. Squirrels are known to be a nuisance to utility companies, and have been blamed for numerous power outages across the United States over the years.
