Disney has released a new trailer and poster for the highly anticipated live-action remake of Moana, starring Catherine Lagaʻaia as the adventurer Moana and Dwayne Johnson, who voiced the character in the animated version, returning to play the clever demigod Maui.

In addition to Lagaʻaia and Johnson, the cast includes John Tui as Moana's wise father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams as Moana's playful and determined mother, Sina; and Rena Owen as Moana's revered grandmother, Tala.

Disney's remake of the beloved, Oscar-nominated animated adventure is directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi, and Mark Mancina, and an original score composed by Mancina.

When does Moana come out?

Audiences in Latin America will be able to enjoy the brilliant visuals, sounds, and songs of Moana in theaters starting July 9, 2026.
