Emma Hemming, wife of Bruce Willis, is fighting frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which has forever changed her partner's life, but now she has made a decision aimed at making life easier for those who suffer from this disease and contributing to the knowledge of those who want to know more about it. For this reason, she has created the Emma & Bruce Willis Fund for Dementia Research and Caregiver Support, a fund dedicated to helping research this disease and financially supporting those in her same position. Emma was one of the guests at the Hope Rising event of the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration in New York. There, she received the Susan Newhouse and Si Newhouse Hope Award. After going up to receive it, she decided it was time to announce the creation of this fund so that everyone can have help if they face a situation like hers. "I know he would be proud to see this effort helping families facing this disease," she assured. People with frontotemporal dementia suffer from loss of empathy, lack of control, abrupt changes in behavior, apathy, disinterest, etc. Additionally, in the worst cases, difficulty finding words and problems understanding what others say also develop.
