The UN's permanent representative stated that closed doors for refugees only signify the loss of their hopes for a better future and may lead to tragic consequences. He emphasized that currently there are more than 80 million forcibly displaced people in the world, and all possible measures must be taken for their protection and assistance.
The UN representative also added that among the refugees are people whose lives are threatened by violence, persecution, and deadly danger, and denial of asylum for them can be tantamount to a death sentence. Therefore, humanitarian programs for refugee admissions play an important role in saving lives and providing them with necessary protection.
