The executive producer of the Grammys, Raj Kapoor, spoke out about the scandal involving Bianca Censori and Kanye West at the most recent award ceremony. He clarified that the couple was not expelled from the red carpet, but rather chose to leave on their own in their car.
"They did not have a seat at the nomination because Kanye was not going to attend and also was not going to have a performance, which are the seats that are considered," Kapoor explained. He added that they were on the red carpet because the 47-year-old rapper had a nomination in the Best Rap Song category for his track 'Carnival,' part of his album 'Vultures 1.'
"Even so, they were not accounted for in the ceremony seating. We know every invited person because all the tables are numbered. And our director has to know where the artists are for the award categories," Kapoor emphasized.
On February 2, during one of the biggest controversies in Grammy history, Bianca Censori took off her coat and exposed her completely naked body through a sheer mesh dress on the red carpet. This act generated a myriad of criticisms towards the couple and resulted in a million-dollar loss for Kanye West, who had two live performances canceled at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
