On Friday, President Donald Trump announced that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be transformed into a Coordination Council for Foreign Policy (OPC). This new agency will be responsible for strategic planning and coordinating the work of various departments in the area of foreign policy. Trump asserts that this approach will save a lot of money and time.
"We will unite the USAID agency with other U.S. institutions to create a more effective and strong structure that will better serve American interests abroad," Trump stated.
The President emphasized that this transformation will allow the U.S. to more effectively compete with other countries, such as China and Russia, which are leading in active foreign political engagement.
