Many attorney generals from the U.S. states have filed a lawsuit in federal court in Washington, accusing President Donald Trump of providing Elon Musk with an unapproved federal grant. The group of state attorneys general has filed a lawsuit challenging Elon Musk's efforts to reduce federal spending under his oversight of the new Ministry of Effectiveness, which was instituted by Trump after taking office.
Since the moment of Trump's inauguration as president a month ago, Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the richest person in the world, has been responsible for significant cost reductions as part of this new initiative.
"The given exploitation of property with exclusively wide powers, deprived of limitation, presented to Musk by Trump, transfers to his hands the work on billions of dollars of taxpayers' money without any Congress oversight," the lawsuit states.
