According to the National Museum of American Diplomacy, most of the embassy staff are foreign nationals. Some sources report that some embassies were instructed to consider the possibility of reducing the number of American and local staff by 10 percent each.
Three informed sources told Reuters that the administration of President Donald Trump requested American embassies worldwide to be ready for a reduction in personnel numbers as part of the Republican president's rules changes to the diplomatic service.
A list of staff is expected to be sent to the State Department today, on Friday, after which further measures will be taken.
