These remarks were made following Trump's statement that Vladimir Putin is "smart" and that the problem for Americans has become "the stupidity" of his own administration.
"Putin, probably, deserves better. After all, he is a smart guy," Trump said, adding that the problem for the USA is "the stupid move of the American leader."
Trump also added that according to his opinion, Putin's administration acts in the interests of its own country, which, in his words, represents "a healthy competitive advantage."
