Unique Punishment for Shoplifters in Grand Blanc

In the state of Michigan, an American judge has proposed an unusual mandate for shoplifters - to force them to wash customers' cars in the parking lot of various stores when spring arrives. Judge Jeffrey Cloothier believes this non-standard instruction will deter people from stealing in popular retail store Walmart. He claims that the car washing service will be free. "I don't think everyone who shoplifts are bad people," the judge stated. According to him, by the end of March and April, approximately 75 to 100 people will be called on to wash cars at that site. The judge mentioned that Walmart stores will provide water and everything necessary for this type of mandate. The judge acknowledged that there has been a significant increase in thefts at Walmart stores he encountered upon taking the position in January. He was surprised that the offenders were from Michigan as well as from other states. "It's absurd," he added, noting that there were 48 similar cases in his schedule. "I think no one will see someone you know washing a car," the judge admitted. Nevertheless, he lowered the social bar, asserting that "there will be people washing cars with them" as well. "Sometimes people are just not shoppers," the judge concluded.
