On Tuesday, December 14, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced that the U.S. would temporarily suspend all cyber operations against Russia, including offensive actions.
This decision was made in connection with concerns about a possible violation of the stability of the system that protects internet traffic from attacks and viruses.
The suspension of cyber operations is intended to prevent the escalation of already tense relations between the two countries.
"We act responsibly to avoid any additional tension in our interactions with Russia," said Lloyd Austin.
At the same time, U.S. Pentagon officials clarified that the decision to resume cyber operations against Russia would be made after a thorough analysis of the situation and confidence in the security of cybersecurity.
