Trump Claims Water Disrupts Magnets on Aircraft Carriers

US President Donald Trump claimed that water can damage the magnets used on new aircraft carriers, calling for a return to hydraulic systems which he considers safer.

Trump Claims Water Disrupts Magnets on Aircraft Carriers

US President Donald Trump delivered a speech to American sailors at the naval base in Yokosuka, Japan, which caused a great deal of controversy due to its illogical nature. In his speech, Trump spoke about the 'power of water that disrupts magnets.' He was referring to new US aircraft carriers, such as the 'USS Gerald Ford,' which use electromagnetic catapults to launch aircraft and elevators to move weapons. Trump claimed that the new system relies on magnets instead of hydraulics, which can be damaged by lightning. However, he added, 'When you pour a cup of water on a magnet, I don't know what might happen.' The President also mentioned that the elevators on the new aircraft carriers are magnetic and that he believes they should be changed. 'The general here agrees, everyone agrees, but the problem is those people in Washington,' Trump said. It is worth noting that, according to media reports, Trump mistakenly believed for about 18 months that magnets stop working when they get wet. This statement came after his previous claims that the 'world's reliance on magnets' is a conspiracy orchestrated by China. During his speech, Trump also stated that he would sign an executive order to return to hydraulic systems in future aircraft carriers, believing that 'the old ways are safer and more efficient.' In another part of his speech, Trump inadvertently revealed that he recently underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, which the White House had previously concealed.
