Rapper 'Diddy' Combs Transferred to Federal Prison in New Jersey

Rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been transferred to a federal prison in New Jersey to serve the remainder of his 50-month sentence, following a request from his defense to no longer remain in Brooklyn.

Combs had been detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest on September 16, 2024. His transfer comes after his defense requested a change of facility to facilitate his access to a drug rehabilitation program and to be closer to his family.

The transfer to Fort Dix also represents a change in detention conditions: the facility is located on a military base in New Jersey, offers specialized programs, and has previously housed high-profile individuals.

Combs' defense argued that the environment was more suitable for his rehabilitation and for maintaining family ties during his sentence.

The conviction did not include the most serious charges of sex trafficking and organized crime, of which he was acquitted. However, the judge considered the crime of transporting persons for prostitution serious, imposing a fine of $500,000 and a five-year period of supervision after release.

With time already served in pre-trial detention and the possibility of reduction for good behavior, Combs' estimated release date is May 8, 2028, though this period could be shortened if he completes the rehabilitation program and meets behavioral requirements.
