US Partially Suspends Sanctions Against Syria

The U.S. Treasury Department announced on Monday the partial suspension of sanctions under the Caesar Act on Syria for 180 days. This step does not cover transactions related to Russia, Iran, or any other entities subject to U.S. sanctions. The announcement came after a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Syrian Ahmed al-Sharaa, who was visiting Washington and met at the White House. At that time, Trump confirmed that 'significant progress has been made on the Syrian file,' adding, 'I think al-Sharaa is doing well, he is a strong man, and we have reached a very good agreement with him.'
