U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed concern on Wednesday that the latest wave of violence by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank could undermine U.S.-backed efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. Israel and Hamas agreed to a Gaza ceasefire under an American plan, as Washington races against time to complete all its stages for fear of a return to fighting. Rubio told reporters after a G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Canada, in response to a question on whether West Bank events could jeopardize the Gaza ceasefire: 'I hope that does not happen. We do not anticipate that. We will do everything in our power to make sure that does not happen.'
