Trump Signs Bill to Release Epstein Documents

President of the United States Donald Trump stated on Wednesday evening that he signed a bill requiring the Department of Justice to make public the files related to deceased financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The statements accessed by the Argentine News Agency were made via the Truth Social network, a day after the bill was approved by a majority in the House of Representatives. On Tuesday evening, hours after the approval in the lower house of the U.S. Congress, the Senate unanimously agreed to immediately pass the bill once it was sent from the House of Representatives. This includes materials linked to Ghislaine Maxwell, who conspired with Epstein to sexually exploit minors, flight and travel records, as well as the names of individuals mentioned or related to the investigation and judicial process. Epstein had close ties with several prominent political and business figures in the United States. In this way, it was approved this Wednesday. The bill had been introduced in the House of Representatives in mid-July, but Republican leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, delayed the process for months. Formally titled the Epstein Files Transparency Act, it requires the DOJ to publish all unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials it possesses related to the investigation and prosecution of Epstein. After being arrested on sex crime charges, he died in prison in August 2019, in an event officially ruled a suicide.
