Democratic senators Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Mark Warner of Virginia, Patty Murray of Washington, Chris Coons of Delaware, Brian Schatz of Hawaii, and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts stated in their statement on Trump's plan for Ukraine that 'this agreement will not create a just and lasting peace.' They added that it would leave Ukraine weak, Europe unstable, and America weaker. The lawmakers also noted that Trump must work with Congress, as well as with Ukraine's partners and NATO allies.
