U.S. President Donald Trump stated today that his controversial 28-point peace plan for Ukraine is not his 'final offer' to Kyiv. Trump made this assertion when asked by media outside the White House if the contentious roadmap is his final proposal for the government of Volodymyr Zelensky, which considers the plan unfavorable in several aspects.
'We would like to achieve peace. If I had been president, this would never have happened. One way or another, we have to put an end to it,' the U.S. president added before heading to the nearby Andrews Air Force Base, where he is scheduled to visit his golf course.
The Republican's remarks come after it was learned that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's special envoy for peace missions, Steve Witkoff, will be in Geneva on Sunday to discuss the peace plan with a Ukrainian delegation.
Rubio and Witkoff will join U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, who arrived in the Swiss city on Saturday. Representatives from major European countries are also expected to be present on Sunday to discuss the roadmap proposed by the White House, which many believe favors Moscow's interests.
Among the most unfavorable points for Kyiv in the plan are the demand that it reduce its army's personnel and withdraw its troops from all territory in the Donbas region still under its control.
'The war between Russia and Ukraine should not have happened. We are trying to end it.'
