Zelensky Rejects Trump's Peace Plan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected the peace plan of his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, aimed at ending nearly four years of war with Russia, international media report. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine will not betray its country and will not accept proposals that «foresee a life without freedom, without dignity, without justice». Earlier, Zelensky signed a decree establishing a delegation to negotiate with the U.S., Ukraine's other partners, and Russia on a peace agreement. In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Trump's plan a «substantially updated» version and stated that it «could serve as a basis for a final resolution of the conflict». Putin also noted that Russia is ready for peace negotiations. Trump, in response to Zelensky's rejection, stated that he «will have to accept it» and that at some point Ukraine «will have no other choice». In the latest development, Ukraine's Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, announced that delegations from Ukraine and the U.S. will hold consultations in Switzerland to discuss the parameters of a future peace agreement with Russia.
