The White House said on Saturday that South Africa is refusing to facilitate a smooth transition of the G20's presidency from the United States after the group issued a climate change statement despite American objections. According to White House officials, South Africa's stance is complicating the transition process. The US had previously objected to the final G20 summit communique, which included provisions on the need to reduce carbon emissions. Meanwhile, Beijing, which chairs the G20 this year, called the group's statement 'fair and balanced'.
