U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Ukraine has not expressed gratitude for American efforts related to the war with Russia. Trump reiterated his accusations that Ukraine has shown 'ingratitude' for the support the U.S. has provided since the start of the Russian war, as talks began in Switzerland between representatives of Washington and Kyiv to discuss his plan to end the war. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: 'The Ukrainian leadership has not expressed any gratitude for our efforts,' again condemning the 'humanitarian catastrophe' caused by the war that erupted four years ago, and criticizing his predecessor Joe Biden, under whom the war began without condemning Moscow. The U.S. president continued: 'I inherited a war that should never have happened and is losing for everyone.' He added: 'Ukrainian officials have not expressed any gratitude for our efforts, and Europe continues to buy oil from Russia.' Trump pointed out that 'the United States continues to sell massive amounts of weapons to NATO to supply to Ukraine.' U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to meet with a Ukrainian delegation in Geneva on Sunday in an effort to advance Donald Trump's plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Trump's 28-point plan, which the U.S. administration now describes as a 'framework for negotiations' after the U.S. president indicated it was not a final offer, aims to end the conflict that has been going on for about four years since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. However, the plan raises concerns in Kyiv and the European Union that it could lead to Ukraine's surrender.
