Trump and Maduro Discussed a Possible Meeting

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he had a telephone conversation with Nicolás Maduro. This call took place amid the pressure the United States is exerting on the Venezuelan dictatorship, according to information from several agencies. Meanwhile, The New York Times had documented the call on November 28th, and according to the source, citing sources close to the matter, Trump and Maduro discussed a possible meeting between them despite the relentless U.S. pressure on Venezuela. Apparently, during the phone call, they addressed the request for amnesty that the regime's leader is asking for himself, his main advisors, and their families, many of whom face financial sanctions and criminal charges from Washington. According to the NYT, there was also a request to maintain control of the military, but this did not sit well with Trump, and the conversation ended without reaching any agreement.
