Guyana and Trinidad, Venezuela's neighbors, report normal air space operations. The Ministry of National Defence of Trinidad and Tobago declared on Saturday that local, regional, and international airlines continue to operate flights to and from the country without interruption. The country's airspace remains open, with no disruptions reported. Commercial airlines operating in Trinidad and Tobago have not reported any interruptions, stated Defence Minister Wayne Sturge, emphasizing that travelers can continue planning their flights as usual. Both Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago have supported the deployment of U.S. military forces in the Caribbean, marking the second recent instance of U.S. Navy military exercises in the region. Yesterday, Venezuela «absolutely and forcefully» repudiated Trump's message regarding the closure of its airspace and criticized what it called his «unusual» attempt to «give orders and threaten the sovereignty» of the nation.
«This type of statement constitutes a hostile, unilateral, and arbitrary act, incompatible with the most elementary principles of International Law and that is part of a permanent policy of aggression against our country,» reads a communiqué from Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil.
