US President Donald Trump sees a "good chance" of reaching a deal between Russia and Ukraine following recent US-Ukrainian talks in Florida, which have paved the way for his envoy to travel to Moscow to continue discussions. After hours-long talks, described by both sides as "fruitful," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that more work is needed, while a source from the Kyiv delegation mentioned the discussions were "not easy." These talks, taking place amid military pressure on Kyiv and an internal corruption scandal, set the stage for a visit by Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, to Moscow, where he is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin today. Washington has presented a plan to end the conflict, which began over three years ago, and is working to finalize it with the approval of both Moscow and Kyiv. On board the presidential plane, Trump told reporters the day before yesterday: "Ukraine has some small, difficult problems," referring to a corruption investigation that recently forced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to dismiss his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, who also led the negotiating delegation. He added: "But I think there's a good chance of reaching an agreement." Earlier, Rubio told reporters that the talks in Florida were "very fruitful... but there's still more work to be done."
