American actor Richard Gere harshly criticized his country's president, Donald Trump, stating that the political and economic situation in the world forces us to think about who is being chosen as leaders. This occurred during his participation in the International Book Fair of Guadalajara in western Mexico. 'As an American, I am deeply ashamed of the president we have... We have bad leaders, let's make sure we don't make this mistake again, don't let the bad guys be our representatives in the world,' Gere said. During a talk with Mexico's Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources, Alicia Bárcena, as part of the FIL Pensamiento program, Gere praised Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for 'how she is capable of dealing with this man,' referring to Trump. The actor and producer also showed his side as an environmental activist in a talk with attendees at the FIL Guadalajara, the world's largest Spanish-language book fair, which takes place in this Mexican city. Gere, star of 'Pretty Woman', stated that Trump is a president who has difficulty managing anger and exhibits childish behavior. 'Clearly, this president is not a mature human being, not someone who has emotional intelligence and behaves like a child. He has to be treated like a child who has impulse control problems, and that's what needs to be changed because anger gets us nowhere,' he declared.
