Washington, Dec 18 (efe). - U.S. President Donald Trump opened his much-anticipated address to the nation on Wednesday by attacking immigrants and the political system that preceded him, and assured that in a few months 'we have gone from the worst to the best,' thanks to his deportations and 11 months that have brought the 'greatest positive changes' in history. 'Our country was a laughingstock around the world, but they are not laughing anymore. There has never been anything like it,' Trump said at the start of his speech on achievements at the White House. Trump contrasted his immigration policy with that of the previous administration, which he accused of having 'flooded' cities and towns with undocumented immigrants and of having released violent criminals who, he said, put innocent people at risk. According to the president, his administration prioritizes 'law-abiding and hard-working citizens' and represents a radical change from what he described as years of uncontrolled migration. Without any proof, Trump assured that he has closed the southern border with Mexico and that in seven months no illegal immigrant entry has been recorded. Subsequently, the Republican focused on citing some of the economic achievements of his Administration, ensuring that 'wages are rising faster than inflation' and that the prices of many services and products have been reduced, mentioning examples such as: '22% in automobiles' and gasoline at $2.50 per gallon. In the last 11 months, we have achieved more positive changes in Washington than any Administration in the history of the United States.
