Portuguese national Cláudio Néves Valenti is suspected of storming a university building on December 13 and opening fire on students, resulting in two deaths and nine injuries. U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the suspension of the 'Green Card' (permanent residence permit) lottery, stating that the suspect used this program to enter the country. 'Based on directives from President Donald Trump, I am immediately directing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to suspend the program,' she said. Noem also wrote on social media: 'Valenti entered the United States through the Diversity Visa (DV1) program in 2017 and was granted a permanent residence permit.'
