The U.S. Department of Justice published on Tuesday a new package composed of about 30 thousand pages of documents and files related to the case of sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein. This comes amid the controversy generated by the previous removal of some photographs in which President Donald Trump appeared. The American authority stated that, although the files are published under transparency criteria, many of them “contain false and sensationalist claims against President Trump,” which it described as unfounded. “If they had any degree of credibility, they would have already been used as a political weapon. Nevertheless, due to our commitment to the law and transparency, we are releasing these documents, always safeguarding the protection of the victims,” the Department of Justice indicated. Trump criticized the dissemination of numerous images included in the files, arguing that they could “ruin the reputation of innocent people” just for appearing alongside Epstein. He also recalled that “he was everywhere in Palm Beach,” so it was common for many people to cross paths with him. This publication adds to another one made on Saturday, also linked to the abuse and minor trafficking network led by Epstein, although much of that documentation remains completely censored. Epstein was arrested in July 2019 accused of sexual abuse and trafficking of dozens of minors in the early 2000s. The financier, who maintained social ties with personalities such as Prince Andrew of England, Bill Clinton, and Trump himself, was found dead in his cell weeks after his arrest. “There are many people who had nothing to do with him and who appear in a photograph simply because they were at the same party,” he stated.
