U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that his Mexican counterpart, Claudia Sheinbaum, «is a little bit afraid of the cartels controlling Mexico». Trump stated that every time he has spoken with her, he has offered to «send troops» to combat the drug trade in her country, an offer the Mexican president has rejected so far. «Something has to be done with Mexico. Mexico has to get its act together because the drugs are seeping through from Mexico. And we are going to have to do something». Trump also noted that Sheinbaum is «a wonderful person», but her reluctance to accept the U.S. offer is due to her concerns. «She is worried. She is a little bit afraid of the cartels controlling Mexico. We would love for Mexico to do it».
