Jonathan Girlish, 34, of Ephrata, was arrested earlier this week after investigators saw him leaving Mount Moriah Cemetery in the greater Philadelphia area 'carrying a burlap bag, a crowbar, and various other tools.' District Attorney for Delaware County Tanner Rouse said in a press release that investigators were called to the cemetery several times since early November following reports of 'a series of cemetery and mausoleum break-ins.' Investigators reported that at least 26 mausoleums and graves had been disturbed since November 7. During surveillance in the area, police found 'numerous bones and skulls visible to the naked eye' in the back seat of a car. Investigators said the driver of the car, later identified as Girlish, was arrested and confessed to stealing approximately 30 skeletons. After executing a search warrant at the suspect's home in Ephrata (west of Philadelphia), investigators found what prosecutors believe to be at least 100 human skeletons, some complete and some partial, according to the district attorney.
