Last week, an invitation was sent to world leaders defining a broad role in ending conflicts globally. According to a draft charter sent by the US administration to about 60 countries and seen by Reuters, it proposed that members contribute $1 billion in cash if they want their membership to continue for more than three years. On Sunday, governments reacted cautiously to Trump's call. Diplomats said this plan could harm the work of the United Nations. On Monday, Trump also said he had invited his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to be a member of the Peace Council. US President Donald Trump said he would impose a 200% tariff on French drinks, describing the move as one that would push French President Emmanuel Macron to join the 'Peace Council' initiative aimed at helping to end global conflicts. When asked about Macron's comment that he would not join the Council, Trump replied, 'Did he say that? Well, nobody wants him because he's going to be out of office very soon.' Trump added, 'I'm going to put a 200% tariff on French drinks.. Macron will join the Council but he doesn't have to.' A source close to Macron said on Monday that France plans to decline the invitation to join the initiative at this stage. Trump originally proposed the creation of the Peace Council last September when he announced his plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
