Trump Confirms He Won't Use Force to Control Greenland

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that he will not use force to control Denmark's autonomous territory of Greenland, but he stressed that the United States must own it. Trump told world leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos: "We probably won't get anything unless we decide to use excessive force, and then we will, frankly, be a force that cannot be stopped, but I won't do that. I don't want to use force." Trump also sees the United States as the "engine" of the global economy, saying, "When America prospers, the world prospers... and when its conditions worsen, everyone's conditions worsen." He added that no other country but the United States can protect Greenland. Trump demanded "immediate negotiations" to acquire Greenland, which he described as "a big piece of ice" that he wants to prevent his adversaries from getting. The U.S. president believes Europe is "not going in the right direction." "Okay, now everyone is saying: okay, fine."
