American officials stated that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and several destroyers equipped with guided missiles will arrive in the Middle East region in the coming days. US President Donald Trump confirmed that the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier is being moved from the Asia-Pacific region to the Middle East amid regional tensions and renewed warnings to Iran. Trump, aboard his presidential plane returning to Washington from Geneva, said that a 'large US naval fleet' is heading toward Iran, but expressed hope that he will not have to use it. He also reiterated his warnings to Tehran against killing protesters. One official also mentioned that air defense systems will also be sent to the region.
