Washington, Feb 5 (EFE).- U.S. President Donald Trump considered this Wednesday that an electoral formula for 2028 comprising his Vice President, JD Vance, and Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, would be "hard to beat," although he avoided pronouncing on who should lead the eventual Republican candidacy. In an interview with NBC News, the head of state pointed out that both share "great intelligence," although he acknowledged there are differences in style. "I would say one is slightly more diplomatic than the other," Trump commented, praising their political skills and assuring that "the combination of JD and Marco would be very difficult to defeat." The president, however, was cautious about the future of the Republican Party and stated that there is still time to define the candidacies. "I don't want to get into that. We have three years left," he affirmed, while insisting he does not seek to "provoke a discussion" within his team. Both Vance, who assumed the Vice Presidency in 2025, and Rubio, appointed Secretary of State at the beginning of Trump's current term, are considered rising figures within the party and possible contenders in the 2028 Republican primaries.
